Slew the dragon today after way too many attempts and the whole OEQ debacle!
The trip started bad with my old reliable audi breaking down in the mountains on the way to San Jose. A tow truck + my brother picking me up 2 hours away and I got there late.
Still, a little note review and a good night's sleep. The lab was "new", core connectivity as usual but many tasks were different than previous attempts. Still, I did a LOT of prep this time wanting to overprepare.
Even with that and scoring myself close to 100% I was really nervous. Got the score report a few hours after the test!
#30108, too bad I couldn't get 30k.
For now its beer, I don't have plans to do this again soon, but you never know.

So your were over prepared it seems...what what would you say the difficulty level was and were there any ambiguous questions??

Difficulty was kind of strange. Core stuff was really easy, and VPN was loaded. That played to my strengths.
There were some odd/ambiguous questions. The proctor helped with one, the others I guess I'm good at guessing what Cisco wants.

Congrats Steve!
The only thing that matter is to have the number, not the number itself. It doesn't matter is 30K+.
The tasks were similar to the tasks on your previews attempts?, you face a completely new exam?
What about the exam presentation, the $100 increase helped to give the candidate more than a single binder.
Regards

Thanks everyone!
Without NDA violations, the topology was similar to previous labs and the core stuff is always the same.
The rest of the test was fairly unique compared to previous ones I did. A few tricky but doable questions. I actually felt good passing on this one because it wasn't just a rehashed test and was challenging but mostly fair.
I would say don't hesitate if you're prepared for the "old" (OEQ version) of the lab, you're prepared for this one. Do it now before they switch to something like the R&S format, or add NAC appliance, etc.... like is rumored for v4.

The stuff you need to do or the rest of the lab won't work. That means ASA, IPS, IOS firewall, etc... That has remained consistent through all my attempts, after all there are only so many devices.
As I said above, the rest of the test was new to me stuff.

What about 30 % troubleshooting , do you feel that's little bit different than the previous exams?

The test was not in any way 30% troubleshooting, unless you really suck at troubleshooting and spend a third of your time doing it. There were maybe 2 additional tasks over the OEQ version, I assume to make up the 20 minutes previously spent on them.
As for scoring, usually my results have come the same evening or over the weekend when I took the test on a friday.

Is it safe to say if you get stuck on something and you know how to navigate the DOC CD very well it could serve as a HUGE HELP?

Congrats man...
I am started on my second now.. It just felt weird not labbing on and off... so I figured I would do one more... CCIE R&S. I have the lab built for the most part. Just lacking 2 more 2811's and I will be good to go..

I moved back to Vegas a few days after the test, unpacked the truck, slept one night in the new place and flew to dc to teach a class.
Without my family and no IE stuff I messed around and got gns3 + virtualbox running CME and communicator. Pretty fun, so I'll probably step outside my comfort zone and do some voice now. IE? I don't think so in the immediate future. I don't believe in doing it without otj experience, for the moment it's purely learning for the fun of it.
